GSM based system provide great flexibility while interfacing with other devices. Initially the GSM system was used for mobile phone communication. But now days it is also used to control the devices and to interface any other system with it. Since the GSM network is available everywhere, hence we can use it without any limitation of range. Since, it is an open source system, the devices supporting GSM protocol are available everywhere. We can use any GSM modem to access the GSM system. The commands which are used to control the modem are known as AT commands. The AT commands for all GSM modems are same. Here we have used SIM 300 GSM modem to control our security system. In chemical factories, there is chance of gas leakage at any time, when nobody is working there. Bhopal like gas tragedy can happen anytime. Since our system is available at any time, hence as soon as gas gets detected an SMS is sent to the authorized user. Hence we can protect our plant with any such tragedy very easily. The microcontroller used here is 8051. It will communicate with the GSM modem using serial interface.
